Seahorses are Hippocampus, Hippos meaning Horse and Kampos meaning sea monster. There are 35 different species of Seahorse and they live in tropical and temperate waters around the world. Seahorses are sometimes monogamous and may mate for life which is about 5 years in the wild this is still in question by marine scientists. The male Seahorse carries the eggs in his pouch on his front side. The female lays her eggs in the pouch and the male fertilizes them from the inside. When the eggs hatch they are small fully formed seahorses and he pushes them out. They swim badly, so they attach themselves to coral or to sea grass. When Seahorses swim they move with a small fin on their back which moves 35 times per second. They are carnivores and can eat up to 3,000 brine shrimp a day. They also can eat plankton and small crustaceans by sucking them in with their snout.
The Wheel House Designs Seahorse on Navy Sock starts out on a Navy Background. The White Seahorse or Common Seahorse is the one I believe to be pictured on this Sock. The Seahorse starts right below the Cuff and stops just above the Heel. It is designed with Light Brown, Tan and White. The Sock shows great detail in the Body features of the Face with the long snout all the way down to the curling tail and the small fins on the back.
